Overcoming Fear to Face the Future

The Bible is full of “fear not” and “be of good courage.” Fear is a result of original sin and separation from God; it can hinder your ability to live an effective life. Fear hinders our future, but grace rescues through the cross. Before you even preach about this subject, allow the Holy Spirit to deliver you from fear.

Week 1: Managing Fear and Moving Forward in Life

  • Genesis 3:10 explained the cause of fear

  • Fear is a basic human emotion that can be a gift or a hindrance, depending on how it's interpreted and explained in our lives. (Proverbs 1:7)

  • Fears from the past can influence the future; continuous personal growth is still needed despite being an adult.

  • Fear can come from within, coming from the stories we tell ourselves. We need to recognize the need to own and confront these fears to move forward.

  • Take time to minister, pray, declare victory over the spirit of fear!

PRAYER POINTS

  • Pray for God to reveal the things in the past or present that have been holding you back from moving forward. Let the Holy Spirit show you if there is a very specific fear the enemy is trying to use to derail you from your destiny.

  • Pray for healing from any past hurts or failures or what happened in the past that has discouraged you or made you stuck because you cannot let go. Ask God to reveal any fear you need to let go that has been holding you back from moving forward and stepping into your full potential that God has prepared for you.

  • Pray against the spirit of fear for God did not give us a spirit of fear, but He has given us a spirit of power and of love and sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

  • Pray to shake off every lie and the torment of fear and declare that in Him you have victory, and it is His perfect love that drives away all fear.

  • If the enemy has been using fear to control, manipulate, and hinder you from moving forward, pray to submit your thoughts and beliefs to Christ's lordship. As you submit yourself to Him, you will resist the voice of the enemies and they must flee!

Week 2: Overcoming Past Fears and Moving Forward in Faith

  • Fear causes us to run from or run to the ONE who loves us, but often we avoid facing our fears due to discomfort.

  • Fear can split us from our inner compass of true north, which is Christ, leading to hiding and losing awareness of God's nearness. (Isaiah 57:15)

  • Confront original fears and overcome them through Christ in order to live a life without fear, without being held back.

  • Fears prevent us from creating our future with Christ and the Spirit.

  • Agree with the Word of God to cast out fear and face the future with faith.

PRAYER POINTS

  • Have you been running away to avoid from facing your fears? Pray for re-alignment with the inner compass, which is Christ that is in you that points you to God’s pathway and destiny for your life.

  • The enemy is always an intimidator who wants us to think we are powerless or to discourage us from moving forward. Pray to break the spirit of intimidation and cause alignment with God’s truth, His words, and promises which never has and never will change.

  • Declare you are more that conquerors and fear will never conquer you for God has given you strength to overcome whatever giants and storms you will have to face. Romans 8:37 AMP: “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us.”

  • Declare God’s promises to break off every root of fear and defeat the enemy. Let His words and perfect love cast away any fear – 1 John 4:18

  • Pray for the release of truth and revelation and declare that you will fear no evil and are secured in the secret place of the Most-High God.

  • Pray for God to bring you to dream again or to refresh the dreams He has given you in the past that have gone to dormancy or become buried due to fear that has been holding you back. Pray for increased faith to pursue your God-given dreams again.

Week 3: Facing Fears and Overcoming Insecurities

  • Paul acknowledges the flawed nature of his will, even as an adult, and recognizes the need to rely on faith to walk in Christ's empowerment. (Read Romans 7 and 8)

  • David admits to carrying deep-seated fears and seeks the Lord's deliverance, recognizing the need to address them one by one. (Psalm 56:3)

  • The importance of understanding that fears and insecurities prevent personal growth, and the need for healing through Christ.

  • Know that the Bible mentions “do not be afraid” about 360 times, which means it is a constant battle we need to overcome daily.

PRAYER POINTS

  • Pray for healing from any fear from the past experiences or insecurities that has been preventing your personal growth. Declare Psalm 34:4 that as you call upon Him, He will answer and deliver you from all your fears.

  • Pray for you to be able to walk with the identity God has given you - who God says you are that will empower you to face fear with courage and confidence.

  • Declare breaking free and freedom from chains of fear, that you will no longer be dwelling in fear and choose to release every fear to God, to trust in Him to handle it.

  • Declare Psalm 56:3: “When I am afraid, I will put my trust and faith in You.” that you will put your confidence in God's protection and guidance during difficult times when you are facing any fear or anxiety.

  • Don’t let fear cause you to flee (and get further away from God), but declare James 4:7 and 2 Corinthians 10:5 - resist every fear or thought that are not from God, and take it to the obedient of Christ.

Week 4: Facing Fears and Moving Forward with Confidence

  • David's bravery in facing Goliath is a lesson for overcoming fear in the present era of uncertainty. (Read 1 Samuel 17)

  • Understand that only you can conquer your primary fears.

  • David reclaims his personal power through inner resources and divine anointing.

  • Facing challenges and making choices based on whether they will increase or diminish your core values and purpose in life.

  • Our confidence should not be on ourselves, but in the Lord.

PRAYER POINTS

  • Shake off every lie from the enemy and declare that in God we have victory, and it is His perfect love that drives away fear. Declare that fear will not rule over you and has no more hold on you.

  • Ask Holy Spirit for an infusion of strength and hope – that mental fatigue and emotional weariness will be broken off your life.

  • Pray for a courageous heart like David and faith to arise to overcome fear and face whatever giants are in front us. Declare that we do not fear storms but we conquer them – hope, faith, and strength to rise up in you.

  • Declare boldness and courage to run to the battle that God will fight for us and we will overcome every battle, every storm with Him.

  • Pray to resist every fear and you will step into God’s prophetic calling and destiny in your life with courage and faith.

  • Declare just as Joshua was commanded that we will be strong and of good courage; we will not be afraid or dismayed, for our God is with us wherever we go. (Joshua 1:9)
